On the road to healer for the treatment, the old man feeling his end said, "TU MANI (meaning stop, leave it be) - leave me there to die". At the place where the old man died Milos buried his body and over the grave  built a church, now the monastery. Memorial plaque to Zawisza Czarny

Memorial plaque to Zawisza Czarny at Golubac Fortress / distance from Villa 11 km Vinci->Golubac /, a Polish knight who died defending the fortress against the Turks, also known as The Black Knight. His nickname is due to his black hair and his custom-made, black armor, which is kept at the Jasna Góra Monastery in Poland. He served as a soldier and diplomat under the Polish king Władysław II and Hungarian-Bohemian king Sigismund of Luxembourg.

 In 1428, Zawisza, with his retinue as a commander of light horse banner of 500 horsemen, joined the forces of Sigismund in the king's war against the Ottoman Turks. During that disastrous campaign he fought the Turks at the Battle of Golubac on the Danube. Sigismund's army was defeated by the Turkish forces. They had to retreat across the Danube, with only a few boats.

 Zawisza's banner was guarding the retreating army. Being a man of importance, he was personally sent for by king Sigismund. He allegedly refused to retreat, obviously disappointed by king's cowardice. He was either killed in combat or executed in Turkish captivity. A monument to Zawisza at Golubac fortress, Serbia, bears the inscription: "In Golubac, his life was taken by the Turks in 1428, the famous Polish knight, the symbol of courage and honor, Zawisza the Black. Glory to the hero!"

Rock Baba Kaj

Rock Baba Kaj / distance from Villa 12 km /

A detailed description of the George's rocks position founded in the travel notes from the 1893: ''Baba Kaj is the lonely and the top pointed rock, which rises above the water surface of 18 meters high. It stands as an outpost of the Danube Gorge, as the forerunner of many rocks above and below the surface, which hamper the passage of the gorge, stands as a reminder of the dangers that begin from there ''. The same text keeps the story that some Hungarians fled with the most beautiful woman in the harem of the Turkish aga, who commanded Golubac; a Turk ran after them and got them on the bank of the Danube; outraged husband took off his head and hang the hijacker to unfaithfull woman around the neck and he threw her to the rock and nailes her so crows and ravens would peck her, the eagles to slaughters her living flesh! - He shouted when he walked away from the rocks ''Babo Kaj se!'' And from that time the rock is called Baba Kaj. According the second interpretation, the name comes from Turkish: baba-father and kai-stone "father's stone" - a very appropriate name for the giant rock that dominates the entrance region of the Iron Door.

The Roman Plaque “Tabula Traiana”

The Roman Plaque “Tabula Traiana” /distance from Villa 60 km Vinci-> Golubac->Golubac Fortress->Lepenski Vir/

The Latin inscription dedicated to the Roman Emperor Trajan, placed on a carved rock above the Iron Gates Gorge. This plaque is part of the ensemble of the so-called Roman monuments which belong to the Roman road and remains of the bridge built by Trajan over the Danube. These monuments date back to the expedition of Trajan against the Dacians north of the Danube. For this project a military road was built from Belgrade to go mountain edges on the right bank of the Iron Gate to the flatter part where Apolodor engineer from Damascus built the bridge across the Danube. These ventures are immortalized in the scenes shown in the lower part of the Trajan column in Rome. The bridge was a wooden structure on brick pillars, which was a typical technology of the time. Trajan also regulated part of the Danube, which is due to the rapids until then considered impossible to sail. The construction of hydroelectric power plant Iron Gate (1963-1972) sunk the Roman time. It was decided to cut the plaque Traiana and place it 21.5 meters higher  to be visible from the river. The monument is composed of large vertical table carved in stone. It is adorned with two dolphins, roses and an eagle with outstretched wings. The plaque is being protected patio stone bearing an inscription carved in modern times: Tabula Traian. The bridge was built on the orders of Roman Emperor Marcus Ulpius Nerva Trajan. The bridge was officially openedin year 105  on the Danube, during the march of the Roman emperor Trajan on Dacians. The bridge was 1,097.5 meters long and for about 1,000 years it was considered to be the longest bridge ever built in the world. It was located near the village of Kostol near Kladovo at the Serbian side and Turnu Severin at Romanian side. The bridge was designed by the greatest architects of the time Apolodor of Damascus. The archaeological remains of Trajan's bridge and Pontes Roman settlement located some 5 kilometers from Kladovo, east of the village Kostol. This bridge is one of the most important masterpieces of Roman architecture.
