This archaeological site was discovered by Dragoslav Srejović 40 years ago. According to world's largest and best-known archaeologists and anthropologists, Lepenski Vir is the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th century in Europe and one of the most important in the world, it is one of the most important and most complex prehistoric culture. The world famous resorts and residential and religious buildings that were built in that area in period about 6500 BC to the 5500 BC, as well as sculptures from the 7th millennium BC, dedicated to the figure of the sun god. Lepenski vir was explored in the late 60's of last century, as part of large safety studies related to the construction of Iron Gate Dam.
